Zoom APH-6

Amazing accessories for those situations in which you can work indoor and have access to power supply - as the H6 consumes quite well the external batteries. Having the free mind of not caring about that is great, and working with the remote makes things way easier so that you can keep the recording in the distance while plugged into the electricity and record. For outdoors instead, the dead cat filter is a MUST. The mic capsules are quite delicate and with a minimum of wind you may ruin the recording, therefore it's highly recommended you get this set with your H6. At least you won't have to "fix it in post" with a "de-wind" process.

I haven't yet recorded outdoors, so have had no opportunity to test the windsock, but it seems to be a very good one.

The other items, however, I know are very useful and handy accessories!

Although the battery life of a Zoom H6 is quite impressive, it is of course always good to be able to plug the thing in if and when there's a socket available, and the recording session is going to be stationary.

The real gem of this packet, though, is the remote control, which allows one to arm the required tracks, and to start and stop recording withough having to touch the recorder. As I often use the recorder about 2,5 metres up on a mic stand for live recrdings, letting the remote hang down from there to within easy reach makes it so much simpler to start and stop recording.

Recommended! Make sure you check the available bundle combinations, though, if you are buying these accessories with the recorder from Thomann, as some will come out less expensive than others.

I'll say right up front that I think Zoom should have included these three items with the recorder. The kit isn't very expensive so a slightly higher price for the H6 with these included would not put anone off, in my opinion. I've only had my H6 for a little under week and the included batteries are still going strong. I haven't used it exhaustively yet as I'm waiting on a mic coming this week sometime. I dont't know what the drain on battery life is yet when supplying phantom power, but I'm much happier having the mains adapter.

Ok, besides the gripe about having to pay out extra, this accessory pack is still good value for money, and to my mind the H6 is really lacking without it. The remote is nice and useable, and the dead cat windscreen is an absolute necessity when recording outdoors with the H6's onboard mics. It's a well made screen, too. It's *very* furry and does a great job cutting out wind. It is a little bit fiddly to attatch to the unit and because the gain control for the mics are on the mic pods themselves, the windscreen covers them up when fitted. That makes adjustments a little awkward, and impossible without dropping a ton of handling noise onto your recording.

If you have an H6 I don't see how you can avoid buying this kit, but you'll be glad you did.
