I will try to be fair...
Carnivore 03.10.2018
I will try to be as fair as humanly possible here: even with apparenlty identical features, the quality here is not comparable to my other rack cases (mainly old SKB, some Gators and plastic Anvils that had been in my rig for ages) BUT, again in full fairness, those cost more than double the price. At this price point, this rack is unbeatable.

Stability and perception of quality is also affected as the case becomes larger. I had the chance to check the smaller Thomann 2U and the impression, obviously, was better. Mine is one of the largest (6U) so stability and structure suffers from thinner materials (again in comparison with cases costing much much more). I guess that if heavy travelling is not on your immediate schedule, this case is perfect. If you are about to kick off your world tour next week, you might consider a more challenging investment.

Having all that said, I am again grateful that Thomann is offering a cheaper alternative for all of us stucked in our home studios. So far, did get the job done flawlessly.

Not modular
Michael_Q 30.05.2020
Thomann has a number of these rack cases in several sizes.
All of them are stackable, but unfortunately only with the same size.
A shallow radio receiver rack can't be stacked on top of a deeper video switcher/recorder rack. The aluminum frames seem not to like shipping and one needs a little force to unbend them for the first assembly. I found that in the edges it is often necessary to cut or grind away parts of the rackmount ears to fit the edges of the rack case. You get what you pay for, I guess.

The problem with the stackability is not a function of price, though. The designer just stopped thinking too early.

Great Rack at a Great Price
Jonathan103 16.10.2014
Those of you looking for a rack that you can take on world tours for the next ten years, kick down flights of stairs, throw in the ocean and generally treat really really badly but still function should probably look elsewhere.

However, the rest of us who want a good quality rack at a great price - you've come to the right place!

These cases are not the strongest or toughest, but they're not meant to be. They're mean to be 'good enough' and they absolutely are. I have no issue putting my expensive kit in one of these and it getting treated in a reasonable fashion. I won't be rolling it end-over-end down a hillside and expecting the contents to be in pristine condition. It's not armoured nor fitted with shock absorbers. Some cases are and therefore cost hundreds of pounds (literally). This is a good quality ABS case that will last for years ... providing you are sensible ;-)

Great for non-professional use
sasopucko 30.11.2021
Not the sturdiest case ever made, but you can't beat the price. It's great for my use, I have a Kemper instaled in it so I mainly take it to rehearsals and back once a week. But if I were to gig more often I'd get something stronger.

Gread Price, Great Case, Minor Forsight Required
Anonymous 26.12.2015
For the price, an amazing rack unit. Though plastic, it's tough and rugged, and protects equipment from the rolling about on my trolly, being the only way to currently transport it.

The case itself has two latches on either side, both front and back (as seen), but no way of locking the lids to the case - easy to do with a pair of kensington locks, but would have been nice to have some form of holes for padlocks built into the catches - If you're gonna be leaving your gear alone, I'd recommend getting some anyway, but be aware you may need something extra to keep the lids on.

The internal fram for holding rack units may not be in the exact position required, however it's easy to bend the frame back into place, and once done will remain that way - I assume it was made like this to ensure a snug fit once mounted up.

Overall, an amazing case at great value, but there are a few little bits of information that it would have been nice to know at the time of purchase.

Pretty good

I am using to for my lane you rack amp which I use for gigs. So far the case hasn't let me down, it is very sturdy and easy to carry with the two handles on either side. Another pro is the ruggedness of the front and back covers, the will protect whatever is inside the case if it fell off your amp, but I think it's best to floor next to your cab just in case.

There is also a zip compartment in one of the covers to store cables. The one downside is the size(lengthways) of the case, it can be awkward fitting it in to your car or van, and if you're playing a smaller venue it could get in the way.

The rack itself did need to be moved in slightly to fit my amp in so bare that in mind that it will probably need some adjustments. The case also comes with screws

I was very impressed with this case and I can see it lasting a long time

Decent
Anonymous 13.10.2016
As with so many of Thomann's own products, it's almost identical to several other cheap brands, but costs even less.

Fixed aluminium frame/rack holes, ABS case and lids - same thing you've seen a thousand times before. It'll hold your gear, it'll take a few knocks. No locks, corner protectors etc., but great for the money.

Only thing I will say - the handles are terrible. First time I loaded it up with my stupid 80s-style guitar rig, I carried it out the to van and my hands were ruined. I just wrapped some fabric round them (the handles) though, problem solved.

Handles are very robust and good quality.
Plastics' quality doesn't give you much confidence.
Installed equipment weight capacity is adequate.
Internal racking hardware is of satisfactory quality.
Butterfly locks are really great!

lighter than wood
Anonymous 22.11.2016
I have never been a fan of plastic cases, they work and I guess it's ok if you are on a budget.. The lids were slightly disaligned on my copy, but it wasn't a major problem so I kept it.. It currently resides in a jazzclub and is rearly moved so in that sence I am very pleased that I bought a cheap plastic case for half the price of a plywood case..

If you plan on touring with it I would recommend you to at least consider getting a proper wood case.. They may be heavier but will last alot longer, and protect what's inside better!
