D
Not as good as I hoped
Daniel4610 11.06.2014
Bought this because I did not have any all plastic whistles in my collection. Was hoping it would be a cheaper alternative to the Susato whistles I have seen. Unfortunately, I find that although I like the overall sound and the feel of it, it handles poorly as it takes a lot more puff to play than my Clarke, Generation, Dixon or Feadog metal whistles and tends to split a lot in the second octave with a really nasty sound on certain notes. The Thomann D whistle I also bought has the same problem. I may do some experiments to see if I can modify it to improve it a little but at the moment I've put it away with my other duds. Maybe a better player than me could get it to behave but given that I have a much easier time with other whistles, I think it's just down to the design being not quite right.

WN
C and D whistles: great value and great quality
Whistlin Nellie 10.10.2013
I have just taken up whistle, but had skilled whistlers test my C and D whistles for me.

I first heard this whistle at a workshop where and we compared it with a Susato and for the huge price difference it sounded great; and way better than the basic tin whistles of similar price (untunable and more piercing sound).

I bought both the Thomann G and C whistles, as the postage (£7ish UK) was no more for one than two. Delivered in the time promised.

Both are described as one piece, but are actually tunable (moveable head) which is a pleasant surprise. Both have good volume, play well through their range, with mellow tone and easy to get good sound out of it. A plastic whistle is also less prone to temperature related tone changes. It also plays well softly (kind to neighbours when learning/practicing). The plastic cases are basic but adequate and perfectly acceptable for the price.

Delighted with my whistles!

l
A simple 'ok' sound. Second octave lacks
lambo 11.11.2018
Bought this C whistle without too much expectations. Compared to a generation whistle, the sound is louder and more narrow with less 'overtones'. In the first octave, the notes are easier to play and it's harder to overblow the low C and D. The sound is ok there and relatively loud. It's more like between a tin whistle and a plastic recorder.

In the second octave, the sound lacks the singing in it. It's also not easy for all the notes to sound clear in the high octave. Sound production is a lot but it lacks the rich tones.

Pro
+Low price
+Tunable!
+Loud in first octave
+Easy to play in first octave

Negative
-Cheap feeling (lightness, plastic)
-Second register sounds bad
-Second register hard to play in
