S
Cheap enough, but not good for percussion
Silverwake 17.07.2017
I bought the Thomann CM-10 metronome, so the drummer in my band had some support on keeping the tempo while recording drums. I was looking for the cheapest option, as he wouldn?t buy it himself and, considering that I?m pretty broke and I wanted to spend as little as possible, specially not knowing if it would even help with the task or if my drummer would agree to use it consistently (I don?t know why drummers are so reluctant to use metronomes), this seemed the perfect option. Well, I was wrong.

Price wise, it is as cheap as it gets. 6 euro won?t hurt any pocket that much. Unfortunately, I didn?t realize that this metronome has no headphone output, so it?s pretty much useless for the purpose I brought it for. That?s on me, anyways, as I should have checked the specs before ordering it.

I can see, though, that this may be useful for a number of other uses: practicing guitar or any other acoustic instrument at home. You can use it with electric guitar or bass too, but you?ll need to keep the amp volume quite low, as the beeps from this aren?t the most powerful. Certainly not loud enough to practice with percussion.

On the other hand, it does have a red flashing led, which may help keeping you on track as a visual aid. The display is not the best and it?s not retro illuminated, so better for using in a well illuminated room. The controls are simple enough, and the clip-on feature is good to place it in a number of places.

Overall, I would only recommend this for some specific uses, and if you only can spend 6 euros, not a single euro more. Otherwise, I would really recommend go for something else. There are other metronomes that feature a lot more functionalities, like different time signatures, memory, backlight displays, headphone output and even tuner for 3 or 4 more euros. I wish I knew when I was placing my order.

I bought this a long time ago. It is a metronome and it works. It is cheap and it feels cheap. The bleep I find somewhat weak and low in terms of volume so it doesn't work for moderately loud applications, besides this, the bleep is a bit more annoying than it ought to be--and working with metronome is already annoying enough.

A bit old fashioned

The metronome works fine, but the features are limited. Within a year it was broken and the soft rubber knobs didn't work well anymore. And I didn't use it that much...

Metronome with basic features

Decent quality, slightly flimsy clip, but it does it's job well. Tap tempo button or the headphones output are missing, but, I guess, in this form-factor it's not possible. Anyhow, this unit keeps the tempo and is more than enough for practicing.
