Not pleased.

This does not resemble a standard tortoise shell pickguard. If that's your goal, this is not it. BUT If you think of this as a brown pickguard with black and yellow marble, this might be just what you need.

While this is 3-ply pickguard, black on the bottom, white middle, the top layer is very thin. Not so thin that it'll wear through to the white underneath though. The bevel and routing all appear clean and well doen so I'm happy to rate 4 starts for quality, however...

I bought this to go on the Harley Benton PJ-4 HTR bass, but it *does not fit*. It does not fit around the neck pocket, many of the screw holes do not line up. (The control layout is also different but I knew that in advance). Frankly, I'm very surprised that a Harley Benton product for a P-bass doesn't work on what is essentially a Harley Benton P-Bass.

In light of the poor fit on a bass that in principle it should work on, and given the visual disappointment, I give 2 stars overall. I'm gonna send this back.

It is brown
migpt 22.10.2020
I bought this pick guard for the Harley Benton Bass Guitar Kit P-Style. I thought there was only one "tortoise color" which was reddish (I was wrong) so I wasn't expecting the actual brown color. I'm not dissatisfied however. It goes nice with the soft walnut stain I painted the bass.
Some of the screws that go close to the input jack and the pots didn't align with the holes in that pbass kit so I hand drilled some holes and it went ok. (I compared to the original white pickguard and there are some differences in shape and holes just in that "tail" of jackplate and knobs position.
It fitted perfectly in the neck and the surroundings which could be more critical. So, overall it fits the thing and looks great.

Fit my Squier-Chris Aiken after some rasping!
Anonymous 21.04.2015
I bought the pickguard as a replacement part for my Squier Chris Aiken P-Bass, because I didn't like the original mirror pickguard.
Quality: In the store the Pickguard seemed to fit perfectly on the bass. (I placed the pickguard over the original one and all screw holes seemed to fit nicely).
But as soon as I took the original PG of, I noticed that two screw holes didn?t fit with the new one. Well I think it was just a production mistake, because the difference between the holes was just marginal. After some rasping on the new Harley Benton Pickguard, the problem was solved.
Optic: The pickguard just looks like the one from the big Company, but just costs a fraction of the ?original one?. And the something like a protection foil on it, what is very nice, especially when you work on the pickguard.
Conclusion: If you trust in your crafting skills, buy the Harley Benton Pickguard. If one or two screws don?t fit perfectly, you can make it fit easily by a little bit rasping.

HB Pickguard

I had originally purchased the item for a HB P-Bass kit, it doesn't fit the HB P-Bass, perhaps its better shaped for Squire or Fender?
In either case, the tortoise-shell effect is more of a 2-D printed pattern, it looks a bit cheap.
