Good quality for a little amount of money

This is a great quality microphone for the price paid. It feels solid and well made. I bought a radio mic from a local supplier in England (a well known chain of stores that has a name that sounds like a holiday camp!). This was heavily discounted but it was still rubbish at any price. It suffered dropouts like crazy even from a few feet away. So I came back to Thomanns reasonably priced mics. I have in fact a headset mic that I bought some years ago from Thomann. It was cheap and it has NEVER dropped out once in the time that I have used it. This made me think that it was not much of a gamble to go for this TWS model. It has good sound quality overall. Better than expected. The sound samples on the Thomann website don't really do it justice. For instance it is easily as clear as the Behringer wired budget models with a good level of detail and an upfront slightly aggressive tone. Maybe more suited to rock vocals (I sing Jazz) but I think that only because I have other mics and have become used to their sound. If you bought this as your first mic you would be a very happy bunny indeed. I think it has dropped out momentarily in the few times I have used it but it was so brief I could not be sure it wasn't down to user error (good line of sight is needed I reckon). Battery life seems good, handling noise is low enough, not particularly prone to feedback. All positives really. Only issue is the battery compartment is a tight fit. Rechargeables that are over sized in diameter (ikea rechargeables are fine for instance) may become stuck.......you have been warned! Keep up the good work Thomann. UPDATE......I have been using this for a few weeks now and my observations are just a little different now. It is prone to dropouts and odd squelchy noises at random. The dropouts are mercifully short in duration and the odd noises are probably not really noticed by the audience due to the cacophony of my backing tracks (big band jazz). In a quieter setting it may be an issue so do bear this in mind. I would say buy one of these as a stopgap but do move onto something better as soon as you can afford it. Sound quality is still good though which REALLY matters.

Update: I have sold this on now. It was dropping out too much and as such it was not usable in a professional situation. Ok for karaoke but even then there is much better availble for a cheap price. I may have got a bit of a duff one so do bear that in mind.

t.bone TWS One A Vocal

I bought this mic for a little bit of fun, It was cheap, I was not expecting much. We are a 4 part vocal group we use SM58's and love their sound, at volume, this mic better than I though, vocals are clear, you loose some of the dynamics but for Rock, pop or Swing, you will get away with it, The mic would definitely benefit with the addition of a pop shield, as P's can cause a pop. Distance wise, we have used it up to 90 feet from the receiver, on new batteries it was clear, it did suffer as they started to fade. its also quite top heavy, if you are clumsy you will drop it, however I will be buying another with my next order from Thomann.

Really good value wireless mic
Steven8503 01.12.2014
I continue to be amazed that Thomann can supply items like this at such good prices. This mic system is basic, but sound quality is clear and precise. The carry case the system is supplied in is lightweight but adequate protection and should last well. When I first switched it on I thought it was faulty as the led 'on' light flashes very quickly when you flick the switch. If I have any criticism it is that because the led doesn't stay illuminated, from a few feet away it can be difficult to know whether it's on or off. It also means that it's going to be possible that when packing away at the end of a gig you could leave it switched on accidentally. As you're always going to be carrying spare batteries it's not a huge issue just a minor niggle. If you sometimes have private conversations on stage between numbers just remember to treat the mic as always live !
