Great product
Anonymous 04.10.2023
All in all great product. Feels VERY safe. Due to the U shaped attachment points it's actually not putting any tension on the actual locking bits like some other options.

Removed one star from total as the screw that goes into the body is a bit thicker than the standard (on my Mim fender) making it a permanent alteration. Schaller could easily have opted to just use the standard screws a guitar came with. The part you attach the strap to is also a lot thicker than any strap hole I've ever seen. Why? Any starp ypu use this with is now permanently altered like the guitar.

A lot of negatives there, but I think they are worth it.

Good design

Very good material and design. The part that screw on guitar didn't match with both parts that screw on the belt, maybe a faulty machining. Other than that it's a perfect product.

Does what it says
teddy5 06.10.2022
Since dropping my guitar once and having to mend the headstock, I put these on all my guitars.

PROs: elegant system, easy to install, hasn't let me down once.
CONs: the knobs do protrude quite a bit which causes them to touch the ground when I put the guitar on a stand. Also, the system isn't completely fool proof: you have to make sure the guitar-part is completely down into the strap part or it'll end up falling off. Never happened to me though, I'm extra careful now. Also, they're not the cheapest solution.

Solid but bulky
emcgon 03.10.2018
Being a fan of the original Schaller strap-locks ever since an expensive accident led me to them, I was excited to see this new version and had a set on order pretty much as soon as they became available. The one problem I had with the originals is that the nut that attaches the fitting to the strap was inclined to come loose, possibly leading to the disaster the strap-locks were there to avert. I had taken to using thread-locking compound to secure the nuts in place (which largely solved the problem) and I have read of others who used a hammer and a punch to deliberately damage the threads above the nut to keep it in place.

This new version eliminates the problem by having small grub-screws which lock the nut. Woo hoo !! Unfortunately - while this solution does work very well - it also makes the whole thing very bulky. If you don't mind that, these are just about perfect: they are easy to fit, rugged and they do their job well. For me, though, they are just a little too bulky and I'll be sticking to the original Schallers and a tube of thread-locking compound.

A
Big improvement over the old version, but also not
AnLaik 08.09.2023
I've been using the old version of Schaller strap locks for over a decade now and I needed another pair. The new version is an improvement but also not at the same time. The part that goes on the strap is definitely better, it has a longer thread for thick straps and a massive lock that is much easier to screw on because it has holes through which you can put the allen key and tighten it really good and it holds much better and also has a security mini-screw to lock it in place, but the buttons that go on the guitar have a fixed screw on them so you can't use the original screws that came with your guitar, which you will want in case they are different length or thickness than the ones supplied with the schaller S-locks, which is definitely a no-no for expensive guitars that you don't want to modify in any way. It does the job perfectly but I wouldn't use these buttons on my 4k PRS because I would have to modify the holes and that's the only reason for 4 stars instead of 5. But it fits the old buttons that I already have so no big issue there. I also think the price is a bit over the top, but you can't beat German steel.

C
what you would expect from a straplock
Captain_Lsc 01.03.2021
The design is slick and the color is great for the designated guitar/bass.
the only thing i would say is that the ring that holds the strap to the straplock is a bit loose you may need to rescrew it often

T
Schaller locks
Threndor 04.11.2020
I have no experience with other locks but these seem fine to me. Strap is securely attached to the guitar and you can remove it easily without damaging the leather.
Only inconvenience I found is that the belt pins are a bit thick and some strap holes might be hard to fit but after a while I managed to do it.

Totally reliable and sturdy
Dowacam 11.07.2023
Typical Schaller high quality engineering. I have eventually fitted these to all my guitars. No more strap issues. My only complaint is that they stick out quite a bit, so that you have to take the strap off to get the guitar in a case

It's good, but there's some things
Mr.Miger 14.01.2019
I use it for my bass guitar. To install it u need Allen key, but it's not included. When u install it and wear a strap, it's hard to open them to take off guitar. But it's really really well assembled and looking good. U will enjoy having it
