4. The New Wave

As the use of digital DJing software and hardware becomes much more common, mixer manufacturers will increasingly add support for control and integration of these technologies into their products.

Th Xone 3D has a central mixing console and two outer MIDI control panels. These can be set up to control any MIDI compatible device.

Companies such as Rane, Pioneer and Allen & Heath have all released hardware that incorporates control capabilities for computer-based systems. Rane’s TTM 57SL scratch mixer is unique in that it has both a dedicated multi-channel soundcard, and a control system for Serato’s ScratchLive system. Pioneer and Allen & Heath have gone for the more universal approach of adding MIDI functionality to their high-end mixers - the Allen & Heath mixer even comes with presets and coloured overlays for the most common DJ software.
