MXR M148 Micro Chorus

113

Effects UnitLike many other MXR, M134 Stereo Chorus is a classic: First of all, it is an analog piece and it delivers a beautiful, wide floating sound that can be rarely heard from today's digital devices.

If you can be without stereo and several knobs, the M148 Micro Chorus has now an economy version, that however has a full sound. Only the speed can be controlled, everything else is set so that the sound just right!

  • Analog chorus
  • True bypass
  • Control for rate
  • Power supply via 9V battery or optional AC adapter 134892 (not included here)

Solid chorus.
click it on and turn the dial.
Fantastic range of sounds and built like a well built thing.
My only issue is the very noticeable volume jump when engaged.
If you're the kind of guitar player who likes a layer of chorus over a clean sound, beware. This pedal will bump your volume something huge.
But if you are adding chorus in the middle of a long line of modulation you can deal with the volume bump somewhere else in the chain (or on your guitar).

I've never been a big fan of heavy chorus effects but sometimes you want just a little bit of chorus on your cleans or you are playin' some 80's hair-metal song...
Then this pedal seemed to be the right choice for me, on/off switch, one knob, perfect!
It kicks in without any clicks or noise, I can't really elaborate on the quality of the sound since I've never used chorus in my setup before but to my ears it's what I want.
The pedal itself is solidly built(like any MXR I've had), no complaints.

Unless you are in a recording situation where it may be worthwhile tweaking your effects a little bit, this one should really do it.

I had one these in the 80's. Was annoyed that I sold it. The single knob is just great, especially with its little rubber 'tophat' which makes turning it with your toe easy. However, just like the 80's chorus sound it also has a bit of 80's noise. Just a bit. But really good chorus sound.

If you're too busy...

Doing other stuff than turning knobs, like me as I am a singing rhythm guitarist and don't want too much knobs on my pedals. This is ideal for me, as I can master it all with just one knob!
It's robuste and normal/standard size. Doesn't affect the sounds on my other pedals either which is vital. Recommended!
