A great piezo pick up
Gustinho 10.01.2018
I tried Underwood and Realist before, but for me this is clearly a better choice. Given the fact that you deal with a piezo, and not a microphone, the sound is very correct, natural and even in all registers, and easy to adjust in your amplifier. Not prone to feedback if you don't really exaggerate with the gain knob, but there's no need to do that. The wire connecting the wheels to the jack could be maybe a little bit sturdier, but it's really the only slight flaw that I can find. Be sure to select the right thread mounting if you already have bridge adjusters. A great piece of gear.

Near natural sound
stopolos 11.05.2018
Mounted the FC in the bridge of my Gewa bass. Easy mountig and adjustment. Quality seems to be good, but I am a little concerned about the thin wire from the pickup to the jack-outout. better be careful when packing/unpacking the bass.

Very natural and musical sounding pickup even though it is a piezo. It produces an even volume across the strings without too much finger noise. Like all piezo pickups, it does need a good preamp to achieve the best possible output for the amp. I use a Headway EDB2 and a Genzler Maggelan combo.

This pickup is one of the best I have tried, and may sonically be compared to the twice as expensive Wilson K4.

Pro: Easy mounting, good sound
Con: Quality of signal wire

Excellent product
Suman 17.01.2015
I bought this pickup to improve the sound of my Yamaha SLB200 electric upright bass and it's doing a fantastic job. If you've got a bridge with height adjusters which the SLB200 has, it's very easy to fit. Although saying that I haven't yet found a fully convincing way of mounting it but it probably works better on a standard acoustic bass tailpiece than on my Yamaha. Still, it only took me fifteen minutes to get up and running and my makeshift cable tie mount worked well enough to survive a couple of gigs! I expect a more permanent solution will be to take it to a luthier and get it properly fitted.

The only negative I can think of is that the wire connecting the pickup to the jack plug is a little flimsy. I do wonder how long it's going to last being transported to and from gigs on a regular basis but I also can't think of how they could've worked around that.

As far as the sound goes my bass now has a much deeper, richer tone which I'm very pleased with. The Yamaha pickup is pretty decent but now the bass sounds much more like an acoustic upright in live situations when I'm going through a PA. I'm currently working out a way of blending the in-built pickup with the Fishman to get a bit more control over volume and tone. When that's sorted I'll have one hell of an instrument!

Excellente cellule
Gdabdx 19.12.2020
