If you can think of a sound, this amp can probably make it.

James MH, 17.04.2018
Given how many features can be found on this amp, I'm almost definitely not going to be able to cover everything in this short review. I haven't been able to spend too much time with the amp yet but I have compared it with both a Marshall JVM205H and a Blackstar HT-20 as a frame of reference:

Currently I am using this with an old ENGL 4x12 (regular size) with Vintage 30 speakers. I intend to use it to record and play live.

*Well built.
*Each channel has its own treble control.
*Consistent sound across volume levels.
*Lots of switches to alter the voicing (I find that the "Mega lo punch" switch can add warmth to a clean/crunch type sound or saturate the low mids on a hi-gain sound producing something reminiscent of a 5150 but retaining clarity).
*Speaking of clarity: this amp has plenty of it.
*Inbuilt spring reverb sounds amazing.
*Very harmonically rich, the inbuilt controls can easily produce the kind of sound that you would normally expect to get from something pushed with an overdrive.
*There's more gain than any sane person could need (and more than enough to satisfy an insane person).
*The Modern/Classic power amp voicing switch can work wonders with certain settings.
*Allows the nuances of your technique to come through (even with ungodly amounts of gain applied, I could still vary the sound just by playing differently)
*Pretty much the physical manifestation of the 'ENGL Sound' (ie. tight, distinct crunch and slightly compressed sound).

*Too many pros to list out.
*Weighs a lot.
*Pretty much requires a MIDI controller to get the most out of it (I use the Z-12 but anything will do). A MIDI footswitch allows you to change multiple voicing switches and the channel with a single button. Without this it can be difficult to quickly switch between more extreme sounds (such as from a modern hi-gain rhythm to a classic clean w/ reverb and then to a modern lead sound). This ties in somewhat with my next point:
*This amp is quite complicated to dial in, I'd strongly recommend reading the entire user manual several times over, you may like the sound that you get by setting everything to noon but that's really just the tip of the iceberg.
*I would have liked to be able to set the depth boost in a similar way to the presence control as I find that it may be a bit too powerful in certain situations (that button, combined with mega lo punch, made me fear for the structural integrity of my house).

Looking back at the pros, I realise that I've not even mentioned half of the features on the front panel and there's no mention of anything on the back panel. I think that the fact that I could only come up with one sound-related con really speaks for itself; it may not be the most user-friendly amp on the market but that's the trade-off you get when you have so many ways to shape your sound.

Perhaps some day I will make some video reviews on YouTube in an attempt to do this amp justice because words are just not enough, you really have to hear it to believe it. I've already written a short essay here and there's still so much good to say about this amp.
Chances are that if you've ever liked the sound of an ENGL amp, this amp will not let you down. If you can think of a sound then this amp can probably make it- it just might take you a while to work out how. You will not regret buying this amp.
