The only roundwound strings I use anymore...
Let's be honest: I'm completely biased. I've used the Daddario's so long time, that I can't really compare them to other brands anymore... But as it comes to the real love: when you find the one you adore, why change? ;)
Daddario EXL's are punchy and bright sounding strings, with lots and lots of midrange. The excessive treble is easy to cut out with your passive tone knob, and the midrange you might not like in your bedroom really feels good on the stage with all that drum-banging around!
They feel a bit stiff, but due to their "tensioness" you don't have play or plug too hard with your right hand for getting a snappy and articulative tone.
They're by far my favorite strings, and for several years I've not even considered anything else. For me, they work perfect.

In love with these strings!
I have tried so many different strings in the last years but I always was disappointed about how harsh and bright the all sounded. No matter if they were made of nick-plated steel, pure nickel or pure steel - they all made me turn my treble knob all the way to the left. Then I found Daddario EXL170-5TP on Thomann online. At first I thought: What a nice cheap price! So I bought them just for testing purposes. After doing some testing I really fell in love with them. They have a very balanced sound - not too boomy in the mids and no harsh treble. Additionaly they feel good too on your fingers. They're not that slippery but this give you a nice control while playing. I definitely include another pack in my upcoming order!
