Better then I had expected.
Anonymous 13.01.2016
So to start off I've been using a BOSS GT-10 for about 9 months and I can say that when I bought this I was blown away by how much better the GT-100 is in comparison. This is a very good product. All the videos on YouTube reviewing it do not do it any justice at all.(Since I'm guessing that just like me.. you probably went there and searched and listened to it and so on)

I use this in a live setting about 2-3 times a week straight through a PA and then from the DI-Box I use the split for monitoring. All I can say.. as soon as plugged it in it's amazing. The tones are clear, very rich in texture and depth, more than what you would expect from a floor unit like this. It really feels like you have that live amp behind you driving your tone.

Pros:
-Good sound quality
-Very good effects, their really real(pun intended)
-A ton of effects(Like 10+ OD/DS; 10 or so compressors etc)
-BOSS-Tone Studio(USB recording capability, high quality, ability to tweak all your setting from the comfort of your chair, on your PC without bending over)
-Good amp modeling(Some argue if their good or not, or sound like the real deal.. but honestly if tweaked right they sound pretty darn impressive. Which is what I need)

"Cons:"
Well not really a bad thing but you do need to know how to set levels and EQ's and so on. You have a lot of options and to be quite fair and you can get lost in it all. So having some knowledge on how to tweak a pedal, amp, EQ a bit will come in handy for sure!

Overall opinion:
The thing's amazing. Tones are good, it's literally built like a tank.. don't go accidentally tripping over it or you might lose a toe.

I see this as being usable both in-studio and live without any problems. But you do need to set it up right or else you might get not get the best tones out of it. Also my sound engineer loves it!

NOTE: Be prepared to spend some time to get to know the unit. I spend like one whole day when it arrived just figuring it out and making like 4 basic tones that I need. But in the end in sounded amazing. Be ready to spend some time, it's gonna be worth it.

Hope this review helps. Cheers!

Amazing and mature product
Dinkernel 14.02.2021
I bought the Boss GT-100 when I started playing in a band almost 2 years ago because I needed multiple effects in one song (Hedonism, Skunk Anansie). I started playing using my Vox VT20 with the 4 way footswitch but that was totally unreliable, therefore I was looking for something better and selected the GT-100.

The GT-100 is really an amazing device. Over the years I learned more and more about effects, and every time I want something new (e.g. a whammy) I can configure it and it works out of the box.

I take the GT-100 with me on holidays to practice using headphones, and at home I plug it into my monitor speaker (the box MA120). In the studio it can either go into the mixer or into a stack amp. For practicing you can use the looper. I even managed to hook up my AKAI Mini Play to the effect input of the GT-100, so I can record its drum pads in the looper.

During Covid the band cannot play, and even practicing has been very limited. To keep up our spirits up we started recording the instruments at home. Also here the GT-100 works very well, e.g. together with Audacity.

Pros:
* every effect thinkable can be configured
* easy to store effects under a foot switch, with a recognizable name
* lots of inputs and outputs
* can be used as MIDI input, to record single notes
* very sturdy and heavy enough to always stay in place

Cons:
* sound record and playback do not work with Linux (MIDI works though)

Great sound at your feet!!!
Sergio Mtz 29.05.2022
I have been using boos gt series multi effects for the last 20 years and I must say they are built like a tank, wich makes them extremely trustable and durable. The gt 100 has graet amp emulations and I have been able to achieve my favorite tones in an easy way. The double screen makes the setup very easy. The polyphonic tuner is amazing and extremely handy. I didn't liked the presets at all but it was fast and easy to get my own sound. I usually play directly to the mixer with no amplifier and the amp emulations are very good for this while the digital effects are fantastic as well. It's full of amazing futures.

This has been my favorite multi effects so far!!

Perfect for live and home studio situations
MarcoC 01.11.2015
Live and in the home studio, this unit is perfect for my needs! For my performances with guitar loops and vocals I need a device that works exactly like the Boss GT-100.

My favorites:

1. A wide variety of effects in good quality. And although the overall effect chain can be modified in detail, it is available in different combinations as presets, perfectly organized in banks, with a few kicks available. Especially as a solo artist with a looper you are with two feet already on the border. So instant change is very important. Speaking Preset: the expression pedal can take over any effect parameter: overdrive gain, reverb level, ...

2. The amp simulations are so good that I go at performances directly into the PA. This saves weight - and the sound check has become much simpler: It's mainly just to do it loud.

3. At home, I can sit comfortably with the guitar on the GT-100 PC editor for programming. No bending or crawling on the ground to screw on parameters. But sometimes I prefer to screw on the GT-100 itself. No problem. I play the guitar through the onboard looper, put guitar aside, test effect settings. That's great, because I can perceive the changes very well. The loop is always exactly the same!

4. Some effect pedals from my collection are irreplaceable - eg the EHX B9. No matter, just put it in the effects loop of the GT-100.

5. Presets are deadlocked? Yeah, sure, but I have the manual mode...can turned on always. So I can switch the effects within the presets on and off individually. As with the "normal" Pedalboard.

6. Several ways of preset creation: If you like programming, which is possible to the deepest depths. Sometimes I want to play more than screw - and there's the Easy Tone feature. A few handles, finished.

7. At home, in the studio, I have integrated the GT-100 into my DAW. That's wonderful. Via Midi the GT-100 revceives the clock tempo, so I can synchronize the delay with the drums. Or the other way: I can play with my guitar the VST-synths via guitar-to-midi...

Boss GT-100 (My Experience)
Kelly_Osas 10.08.2022
This unit has been the best I've gotten from buying musical equipment online. The unit was delivered in perfect condition. The quality of the unit is superb. Indeed, it's really a boss and the Thomann music store is incredibly awesome. The whole order process was tension and stress free. Much love from Nigeria.

Superb
Marc7540 02.03.2015
Where do i start with this fx unit.....

I dithered between this one and the line6 hd500x. I'm a bit of a Line6 fanboy if i'm honest. I love their stuff. I've had amps, fx units and a Variax from them, and I have loved them all. I watched numerous reviews on both. When i found out Johnny Marr uses a GT-100 on stage, that tipped it for me! I am so happy i did

Its so easy to program and get great sounds out of it. Very intuitive. Took me about an hour to get to grips with it. Much, much easier than Line6 stuff.

Effects - The effects are Boss. Thats really all you need to know. With a pedigree like that, what more can i say. There is an effect for anything you want and much, much more besides.

Amp models - personally, i dont care if they don't sound exactly like the amp they are supposed to model. As long as it sounds good, who cares! There are some lovely sounds to be had out of this unit.

The flexibilty of this unit is awesome. Dual amp paths, assignable pedals, massive bright lcd display. I could go on forever.

You can set up one pedal to do up to 8 things. So, you can be in a patch, then with one click increase the gain, add delay, add chorus, swap amp etc etc etc. Very useful indeed.

There are very few things i buy that end up in the "thats much better than i hoped for" category. This is the best of them all. Unbelievable unit. Superb. I can't fault it.

It's a shame there aren't more than 5 stars to give it......
